Re Painted Ladies in the UK

An interesting observation I have made about the derth of V. cardui in the UK.

Last year for the last two weeks of May I holiday'd in Northern Spain (Costa 
Brava) and recorded huge numbers of Painted Ladies, and we had a veritable 
invasion here in the UK.

This year I repeated the holiday (Same time, same place) and saw only 2 
during the whole fortnight.

Final clinching proof that our Painted Ladies in the UK come from Spain?
