This is an interesting question. In the U.K. 'Recorder' seems to be used
a lot; it is O.K. for the U.K. but not globally. In a perfect
world it would be nice to have a common system or a European system at
least (given the similar species). 

Does anyone know of such potential systems? A GIS system seems to be the
way things are going.
