field preservation of specimens

Two years ago whilst on a three-week birding trip in South America I
collected moths at service stations and other lights. I kept them in old
Beta cassette boxes with a chunk of Vapona which works well here in North
America but I had a serious mould problem as the specimens would often be in
a very hot car for hours and days at a time. I'm going on a similar trip at
the end of this month. I didn't obtain chlorocresol as the catalogues
advise not using it at high temperatures. Any suggestions?
