athan,
we seemed without monarch activity while all around us noted excessive
unexpected numbers of migrants,...also cold weather prevented growth of
milkweed.  this afternoon however, shortly before cold-front arrived
with another round of heavy rains and lightning, 84degree F sunny and
humid conditions activated lepidoptera flight and monarch larva are
everywhere.  most early larva were parasitized, yet humid sunny propels
milkweed growth here at serendipity and every few days between storms
the larva reappear from their hiding places to munch and grow.
ought to be fifth instars here any moment. :)
