I recently accidentally caught a worn female of the 'TIGER WITH TAILS'
Consul fabius and released it inside a 5 x 1.5 x 2 m cage with asorted
foodplants. (this butterfly is related with the Anaea)
Unfortunatelly, the hostplant I had for this species was previously
cutted because i did not have in mind to breed so soon, leaving
just the stems, and today it is budding. So I decided to cut fresh
Pepper tree stems (host) and plug it inside a bottle with water.
Is this enough to encourage this Charaxine butterfly to oviposit? or
should I wait till my budding plant to have fully grown leaves and
try with another specimen. The stem is iremediably wilting and I have
the feeling that it will not fill the butterfly's expectancies.
How much space is needed for such species. Anybody out there has
experience in rearing tropical butterflies in cages?
