Planting milkweed in the garden works!
Patricia planted some midwestern species of milkweed last year.
This year they are about four feet high, and we counted about
seven monarch larvae yesterday. They are quite large - apparently
we don't check often enough. Patricia saw one monarch in the garden
a couple of weeks ago. I haven't seen any, at all this year. The
fennel next to it has larvae too - anise swallowtails, like as not.
cheers, Jeff
