The leps-l list is not being sold. I have my own node on the internet which
gives me as many email addresses as I like. In effect I have an account like
a company or an educational institition.
I post to leps-l from my personal mail address but am subscribed under a
different address. I never get unsolicited mail in the leps-l box except
that sent to the whole list as a posting.
The problem we have is not from leps-l but from the usenet newsgroup
Sci.bio.entomology.lepidoptera with which it is gated.
All posts to leps-l go to s.b.e.l and these are picked up by the spammers
from a standard news feed. The simply pick up the addresses from the headers.
When we get spam to the whole list it has often been sent to other
sci. hierarchy newsgroups as well.
Incidentally I receive and post through both leps-l and s.b.e.l .
