There you have as well got something to think about. Are the
conservation-societies doing as much effort to prevent these things to
happen ? Or is it just a matter to have a species on some kind of red
list,so collectors could be punished ? We had Maculinea alcon on the red
list, as the foodplant Gentiana pneumonanthe. Both were forbidden to
collect since 1980. But ever since some populations had disappeared
(leaving only a single habitat) after drainage of the biotope for
recreative and industrial purposes. I didn't hear about any
conservation-member complaining at the government in order to prevent them
to let this happen. Meanwhile the foodplant and ants have dissapeared and
there remains very little there to protect !  Before 1980 many collectors
were active in the region and collected the species , that could be very
abundant, without a threat to the population. The relicts of the species
now remain in local collections from the older lepidopterist.

Hope you won't get the same with Eurodryas aurinia as it is now on a red
list !
