I was out in Willow Creek, California over this memorial day weekend and
I came across a caterpillar. I looked in all my books to ID it but
couldnt find a match. Maybe someone out there can help.
It was hairy all over, hair lenght and form was about the same as a
woolly bear, It had three sections black, red, black or red, black, red
( I cant remember the sequence). The most distinguishing characteristic
was a wide stripe of longer white hair down the center segment. It
looked like a skunk stripe. Any Ideas? Willow Creek is in Northern
California in between Eureka and Redding.
Thanks in advance.
