Good day,
As a resource manager, responsible for the management of early
successional habitats in the 56,000 acre Quabbin Watershed in Central
Massachusetts, I have been interested in determining some criteria for patch
size in forest openings. These opening may either be left to regenerate to
forest or managed as permanent meadow. We have been gathering information on
the use of these habitats by various bird species, but I am interested in
references to check out related to opening sizes needed for populations of
various butterfly species found in the region.

Thanks in advance,

Dave Small
Forest and Park Regional Coordinator
