In general butterflies can be simply preserved by completly drying.
Formal preservation entails softening, spreading board, pinning paper
strips (no pins in wings) and drying.
In any case once completly dried it must be stored in an airtight
container or in a container that always has a moth ball in it. Dermestid
beetle larvae will eventually find and eat most any dried perserved
specimen if they are not kept away.
