Whether bumbling academicians or amateurs, we contribute according to our
drive and abilities. Each member of this list is here due to possessing a
certain minimal level of each. I enjoy all the posts butterfly-related
plus those that aren't entirely, because once you see past the momentarily
heated ego, points worthy of further thought are made.
Human beings and butterflies are part of the huge planetary experiment
that, for now, doesn't seem to be going in anything's favor. Together we
could use our great synergy to debate each other with humor and acceptance
and to promote conservation--two equally important facets of life. I hope
for the day when people who are connected all over the world via computer
will take advantage of this new synergetic potential and begin to act en
masse to save the experiment. For example, a recent poster suggested
setting periodic traps in gardens and woods to get a more reliable picture
of individual and species abundance.....
So far, the only sightings in my neck of the Jefferson NF are several P.
rapae, two of which were "fighting" (things aren't very different across
species
lines :).
BTW, thanks to the several members who sent me information about T.C. Emmel.

A classic is a book that has never finished saying what it has to say.
