This is being posted to both LEPS-L and CTLEPS-L,

The Connecticut Butterfly Atlas Project (CBAP) is a five year
effort to determine the current distributions of the state's
butterflies, based on a USGS topographical grid system.
1999 is the final field season for the CBAP, and so, on
behalf of the steering committee, I'd like to encourage
anyone with an interest in the state's butterflies to
help contribute to this ongoing and entertaining venture!

The CBAP web at http://www.peabody.yale.edu/other/cbap
has been updated to reflect all material gathered from 1995-1998.
Just shy of 7,000 vouchers (specimens & photos) have been
received to date, from several hundred participants.

Distribution maps are on the web site for the 101 species so far
vouchered, and you can also obtain species lists from the web for
all USGS quadrangle-block combintations in the state. These lists
are designed to facilitate "block busting" efforts during this
final field season for CBAP.

Please feel free to contact Jane O'Donnell, the CBAP Project
Coordinator, at 203-486-4451 (email = bioadm4 at uconnvm.uconn.edu)
for participant packages, other information, etc.

Larry
