what are poisons for traps?

Dear oh dear - seems like this has caused a bit of a stir....

Someone in an area of the world seeming very different and remote from of us
has requested information on killing agents in moth traps. Most subscribers
to this group may have no knowledge of his circumstances or his methods or
purpose of collection. We certainly do not.

A request for advice was made to this group. Some members sought to offer the
advice. Other members seized it as an opportunity to re-open the debate on
live versus dead trapping.

Surely, if a member asks for advice, it is our obligation to offer the advice
rather than to criticise the purpose without any background to the problem.
There must be a place for tolerance and this site must offer a forum for a
reasonable debate.

By all means, open a debate. Debate is presentation of argument, initially,
not criticism of any opponent's ideas or theories without a proper
understanding of the background or circumstances. Sarcasm has no place in a
sensible debate, nor does a 'knee-jerk' reaction because someone does not
subscribe to the experiences of someone else.

For the record, we dead trap 365 days of the year as part of a 150 year old
international project with many more traps than ours. It is not for our own
vile pleasure and we know it has done some good, somewhere.
