Looks like a Pericopine Arctiid, probably a Composia species (I don't know
if C. fidelissima occurs in the D.R., but that's what it looks like to me).
Incidentally, it would've been better if you could've put it on a website
and told us to go there, rather than mailing it to everyone - that's how
trojan computer viruses get spread.
