Hi Carl,
That sounds indeed like one of the Cyrestis spp. as Kuniomi mentioned. It's
one of the Mapwing butterflies found in the region and as far south as
Malaysia (although it is no longer found in Singapore). I've taken the
liberty of attaching a URL that will lead you to Chin Fah Shin's
treasure-trove of Malaysian butterflies. The URL here shows one of the
Cyrestis species - C.nivea. Hope this looks like what you were looking for.
