warm december/east bay fritilary sightings

The Oakland, Piedmont, Berkeley area has been a hot spot of Gulf Fritillaries for several 
decades. There must be a fair number of passion vines in the yards of homes and 
businesses in this region. In northern and central California, only garden passion vines 
are utilized as host plants - the Gulf Fritillary does not breed on any native or wild 
growing plants in this region.
