There are likely numerous species of lepidoptera to be found on the Galapogos.
However most species are not entirely endemic (Native). Many will be
Sub-species or isolated forms that occur on the South American continent. I do
have only one species in my collection from the Galapogos. It is a Sphinx moth
(Celerio lineata). It is a dwarfed and darker form of the species which can be
found throughout the Americas.
Its range extends from Patagonia to New England. Little is written of the
Insect fauna of the Galapogos. Try the works of Charles Darwin or Alfred
Russell Wallace.
