Hi there. I am in the process of staring up field research this summer
to document the occurence of incubation behavior (or the possibility of
incubation behavior) in female hackberry butterflies. I've seen gravid
females touching their abdomens to very warm surfaces both in the shade
and the sun. I have a hunch this will aid in the development of the
eggs. Has anyone else witnessed such behavior in this or other species?
Thank you........
