Just my luck to have the classics professor (there was only one at my 
small college) sitting in on my senior honors exam.  He corrected my 
pronunciation of ecology (needs a long ee rather than an short e). 
But since that time it's been smooth sailing, mangling all sorts of 
latin and latinized Greek, without anyone calling it to my attention. I 
support Anne's suggestion that it's more important to be positive than 
right.
