SEABA Huachuca Mountain Field Trip

The SouthEast Arizona Butterfly Association Field Trip observed at least
a partial recovery in butterfly numbers in the Huachuca Mountains of
Arizona today.
10 species were observed, the most interesting areas being the lower
pond on Barcas Ranch (B) and the portion of Garden Canyon between the
middle and upper picnic areas (G).

Marine Blue (Leptotes marina) B
Acmon Blue (Plebejus acmon) B
Pearl Crescent (Phyciodes tharos) B Many
Painted Crescent (P. pictus) B Many
Desert Cloudywing (Achalarus casica) G One
Golden-headed Scallopwing (Staphylus ceos) B
Common Streaky-Skipper (Celotes nessus) B One
Orange Skipperling (Copaeodes auranticus) B One
Deva Skipper (Atrytonopsis deva) G New hatch - Many

In June we will try to have a field trip to Peppersauce Canyon in the
Catalinas northeast of Tucson.

Our next meeting will be in Tucson MAY 18 AT 7 PM at the Woods Branch of
the public library, 3455 N. 1st Ave (south of Prince on the west side of
1st Ave.) and will feature Slide Portraits of Butterflies South East
Arizona with hints on field identification..
