I was looking at a dead and rotted pine tree trunk the other day, mostly 
sawdust on the inside, when I saw a couple very large (at least 3 inches 
long, 1/2 inch diameter) larval looking creatures in the middle of the trunk, 
with several large holes where they'd been boring through the sawdust in the 
middle.   They were white with black heads and a rust colored spot on the 
head.  Just  wondering if anyone might know what they were, and what they 
will become.  Thanks.  -Deborah
