I only have three more genera to write, Lapara, Euproserpinus, and
Hemaris and I will be done with all of the species treatments for the
book on the biology of the U.S. & Canadian Sphingidae... at that point I
will quit "bugging" everyone with sphingid questions. However, in the
interim.....
Can anyone in the Southeast get females of Lapara yet this season?
Riotte (1972) resurrected Lapara halicarnie to species status and
indicated that the larvae are very distinctive from the larvae of L.
coniferarum and L. bombycoides. We need to rear known siblings from the
various female types to resolve this issue. As a second choice, do you
have larval photos and the associated adults ??? Any help would greatly
appreciated and acknowledged; besides it would get me off the talk
group. Thanks.
