Vanessa

There was a recent query as to the etymology of the genus _Vanessa_. In
_Alberta Butterflies_ (Bird et al, 1995), is the following remark on the
genus: "Etymology. Vanessa was a mystic divinity of the Orphic rites in
ancient Greece."
