Cocoon spinning butterflies abound?

Dear Laurel et al,

It is argueable of course, that the majority of the Hesperids also spin
cocoons, or partial cocoons, but more worrying, having travelled in West
Africa, I found that many there - children & otherwise, have no concept of
metamorphosis at all, hating the pest "slugs" on their citrus, happily
collecting them for me - happy to be "rid of them", yet despising me when I
killed for a specimen one of their "lovely" swallowtail butterflies.

We are told that 60% of the world's population have never heard a telephone
"dialling tone". More worrying, I say, is that 90% of the world's
population has no concept of Insect metamorphosis.
