Why Are Moths Attracted To Lights?

Agreed. The only point I was trying to make is that if moths were really
attracted (overpoweringly) directly _to_ lights, one would expect the
moth fauna at ground level to be seriously depleted on clear moonlit
nights. The trap data are not consistent with that idea, whatever effect
the moon may be having.
