Hello, everybody. I am a member of the Lepidopterists' Society
and am in great need of some help. I have developed some genetic
markers for Zale lunata and Zale galbanata (Noctuidae), and
now I need to test their ability to identify variation in populations.
For that, I need moths from different areas of the US, and I am
asking people who collect moths "in bulk" if they would be willing
to spare some specimens from these 2 species and place their
bodies in 100% alcohol soon after collecting (after clipping the
wings, placing them in a glassine envelope, and cross-labeling
them), and mail both bodies and wings to me (I will pay for
postage), or bring them to the Lep Soc meetings in NC. Could any
of you help me if you go collecting? Thanks so much! Astrid
