A page-long single column obituary was published today in The Globe and
Mail (Canada's National Newspaper) concerning the late Father J. Riotte,
who died May 6, aged 99. ("Lives Lived" - back page of section "A", may
also be posted at the Globe website).
As Father Riotte was a member of the Toronto Entomologists' Association,
I would appreciate hearing from those who knew Father Riotte and of his
contributions to entomology. I note that at one point in his life,
Father Riotte was a research associate at the Royal Ontario Museum in
Toronto, and more recently worked as an entomologist at Bernice P.
Bishop Museum in Hawaii. He completed a study on moths and butterflies
of the South Pacific, and in 1992, oversaw publication of an annotated
list of lepidoptera of Ontario.
