Derby, England...

Old Friargate Station

One of the best known urban wildlife sites in the u.k., well-known for the
wealth of its butterfly species, is under threat once more from potential
development. This is a consequence of the National Government's urging our
local authorities to build houses on 'brownfield sites' rather than in the
countryside. This ignores the fact that many such city sites are far richer
in wildlife than much of the 'agricultural desert' that has been created in
recent years.

Even though you may not know the site personally, you may like to make your
views known on the general principle of conserving the best of such urban
wildlife sites.
