Big bang (was government thread)

	As a one-time astronomer, I found this odd--so I checked with my
brother (a professional astronomer). He in turn checked with Ralph Alpher
(an expert in the field), and said:

"The acceleration feature does not do in the big bang hypothesis. It is
just a modification on top of the theory."

That's what I thought when I first saw the statement above--but it's nice to
have confirmation. So the big bang lives...
