	Voice-actuated tape recorders can be invaluable in the field. No
need to carry them in your hand--they do fine in your shirt pocket,
leaving both hands free to collect, hold binoculars, or whatever else
you do in the field. The only catch is that you'll have to sit at your
keyboard for some time during the winter to get the contents on paper
or in your computer...  I've been using this method since the mid-70s,
and it works fine. It helps to have a foot switch for the recorder when
you transcribe the tapes.
