Woolly bear larva

Hi all;

This winter I started an experiment using the woolly Bear larva. It has been
long know that the marking of the larva are not always divided into thirds.
This has led to the predicting of mild or harsh winters.

What I would like to know is if the markings in some way produce variations
in
the adults? Possibly leading to sub-specie. I have noted that some larva
have
more black then others or less black and sometimes just haft and haft.

I now have two woolly bear larva that do not have the standard markings.
With
some luck they will over winter and by summer I hope to know the answer to
my
question.

Any thoughts?

Chuck
