I'm not aware that there is anything inherently disrespectful for anyone to
suggest that their own opinions on word definitions are in any way superior to
others. One can respect the right of others to hold different definitions
while
at the same time viewing one's own definition as superior. This seems to be
the normal state of discourse in science in my experience.
