In coastal Central California many of the numerous species of grasses and
sedges are putting out new leaves and the larvae of leaf-mining Elachista
are evident. So far, in Monterey County, I've raised or observed Elachista
larvae from the following plants, some of which are perhaps involving the
same species: Carex multicaulis,Calamagrostis nutkaensis,Agrostis
hallii,non-native Holcus lanatus,Bromus carinatus,Elymus glaucus and Leymus
condensatus.
