Good point. Just an example of the kinds of double standards/interesting
logic that causes clear thinking people to decline respect for some laws.
Respect must be earned, it cannot be assumed nor demanded. Remember that in
democratic socities laws are intended to serve people and protect the public
interest. I sometimes wonder what service is provided by some laws and
whose interests they respond to. They are not immutable and need to be
changed from time to time. This has been and continues to be the case. What
is a crime at one point in history in one place is not a crime at another
point in history in the same place. Gosh darn, this is rambling on and only
skating on the edge of legalities and moralities of killing butterflies in
parks, so I cease :-)

Yes in the past I have been appalled at the extent of goat herding,
lumbering and lately hauling out of the remaining firewood in at least one
National Park in Mexico.
In our own National Parks I have also been amazed at the intensity of
sport fishing and the use of insecticide spray on mosquitos in campgrounds,
while butterfly collecting which is far less damaging to the ecology than
is the stocking and taking of fish, is prohibited.
