This is a brief email to alert LEPS-L recipients that several
recent posts (circa 13:30-14:15 on 25 Jan 2001) into the list
have contained attachments infected with the "Navidad" virus.
I've already contacted the apparent sender of the email.

The following is an excerpt from Symantec Antivirus online:
"W32.Navidad.16896 is a mass mailing worm program that is very
similar to W32.Navidad. The worm spreads via Microsoft Outlook,
using MAPI to reply to all Inbox messages that contain a single
attachment. The worm utilizes the existing email subject line
and body, and attaches itself as Emanuel.exe"

With apologies for any inconvenience, and in general please be
wary of attachments (e.g., always scan them before opening).

Best regards,

Larry
