Dear John Himmelman,

I received your flyer. I think your position is partial from the =
beginning, you do not let an open door. Why collecting or why not =
collecting ? You just ask why NOT collecting. You have of course the =
right of having the position you want but I think the extreme position =
do not reach nothing. There is no one answer but a lot of answers. Some =
species must be collected for study, some places must be collect, not so =
easy to answer.

THE ANSWER DEPENDS WHERE AND ON WHICH GROUP YOU ARE WORKING.

Probably, as in many grounds, people who are certain of their position =
are probably on a wrong position. Let a small space for doubt.

Sincerely,

Jean-Michel MAES

  Subject: WANTED: Anti-collectors....

I would like to invite the written opinions of those out there who =
feel strongly against the practice of making butterfly/moth collections =
for sport and/or science. PLEASE CONTACT ME DIRECTLY!! I don't want to =
get this thread going on this list!
  =20
Why don't you collect? Moral reasons? Conservation reasons? Should =
it be banned? When it is okay, if ever? How about catch and release?
  =20
This is for publication, and is already under contract. I will give =
the details to those who respond. If I publish your thoughts, you will =
be given credit. Both sides of the issue will be given.
