As Winter fades
so do the retorts
in favor of
 reports

I like to make it out at least once a week this time of year. It has been
10 days due to the freezing temps that came in the 5th and 6th. It got up
to the low 60's today.
I headed to Edisto Island looking to see if the Anthocharis midea midea
were out yet as well as Brephidium isophthalma insularus. As usual, I did a
lot of wandering about dirt roads and places I have never been before - in
addition to checking the usual haunts. Very few leps were encountered. I
was struck by how dry everything was.

I found 1 male Psychomorpha epimenis at a moist spot on a sandy dirt road
and a few Erynnis juvenalis males. That's it. I will try to get back out
Monday the 12th. I have some interesting comments to post about B. i.
insularus but I will wait till later for that.

Ron
