With regard to John's penultimate sentence above: When I was at the
AMNH Croizat's work was central in many of the discussions (often loud
and vituperative) of the Systematics Discussion Group. I can't say how
much consultation it gets now, but in the early 1970's it was certainly
consulted, repeated, reinterpreted, and argued by systematists there.
