Help identifying

It's the larva of the sphinx moth Eumorpha fasciata.  It probably was not 
feeding on the willow though.  They normally eat plants in the primrose
family.  Perhaps the plant you found it on just looked like willow or the
larva crawled there from a nearby primrose.

This caterpillar was found on a willow in Tampa Florida on 10/01/01. Can
anyone help identify?
