Excellent question.  Again, historical records can shed some light 
here for both the plant and insect.  How long has the plant been 
here?  Is the butterfly native?  How far back do the records go?  If 
a native insect, then back to Gene's question.  What a tangled web we 
weave when we spread exotics :-)
