One of our former students working at the Bronx Zoo was assisting on an
Anaconda project in Venezuela. They found the Anacondas in shallow muddy
rivers, by wading and searching the bottom with their feet. Yes, very
cool. Near Alta Floresta, Brazil, we found an 18 foot Anaconda sunning on
the river bank. That, also, was after 23 months in the tropics. In the
Pantanal there is a very different "anaconda" called a Yellow Anaconda, only
about 8 feet long and slender.
