May I point out, for those of you who choose items out of context and
make things up, that nobody is, at the moment, planning either to import
Caribbean Blues nor to release any blue out of range.
Just so that we calm down and quit playing with the heads of people who
might get upset ...
Paul, we're hoping that commercial breeders will rear the Miami Blue for
butterfly houses worldwide. Thus we will have backup stock in case there
is a hurricane or an idiot with a can of Yard Guard that wipes out the
original colony.
If the main breeding plan goes well, there will be no need to call on
these resources.
When this project succeeds, and butterfliers everywhere discover what
great guys the breeders, collectors, scientists etc. are, and how much
they owe them, they will, of course, fall down and worship you.
Nobody plans to release anything inappropriate, and we are acting under
the guidance of John Calhoun, Marc Minno and Alana Edwards, as well as
the mighty and multi-titled Bob Parcelles ... and with the blessing of
the USFWS.
If inbreeding proves to be a problem, the scientists will say so, and
will design a remedy, with everybody's blessing.
Thank you for the opportunity to clarify this matter.
