Melanistic Hornworm

Greetings all:

Attached is an image of what looks like a melanistic Tomato Hornworm that
was found in a garden in North Branford Connecticut.  We have looked in many
references to find out if there is any published material or documentation
of such a color morph, but found nothing.  Has anyone out there seen this
morph before?
