 Butterfly Restoration Project, Miami Blue

If I may cross-post for a moment ...
Much is happening behind the scenes with MBBRP, most of it good, and I
wanted to check back with people and be sure I express the will of all,
as we plunge into Benji's grand plans, which do look a lot like Mission
Creep, but will result in a broad base of workers and study centers
where the Miami Blue and other butterflies can be observed and studied,
propagated where appropriate, all with Tom Emmel's and Jaret Daniels'
leadership and guidance, and with the help and encouragement of all you
fine scientists, gardeners, breeders etc.

Either we do more general work, or we all stand in an anxious circle
about two little bugs on Bahia Honda, and there are so many of us ... I
think we need to spread out the pressure a bit.

Dr. Daniels is preparing a list of butterflies that need help, and what
they need. Your input would be most welcome (at the moment, Florida
only) You want to do some other state, though, we'll sure help.

We'll involve nature centers, schools, universities, state and local
parks, the DOT ... schools will rear larval host plants for the DOT to
plant, it will be great. The lion will lie down with the lamb, NABA and
the Commercial Breeders will find common ground and we will all have a
good time.

Meanwhile, now would be a good time for people to post what they know
about the Miami Blue, and propose their candidates for special
consideration.
and thanks
Anne Kilmer
