Hi.
There may be similarities between two insect species
in external appearence , but a particular species is
identifies using a number of other keys also.Perhaps
this particular insect may have some different
strains.So there are chances of getting different
coloured caterpillars also.
 There are records of moth overwintering in egg stage
as well in pupal stage.
