I will send a photo to Mike Quinn tonight for posting on the NABA SoTX
site. It is a Mountain Groundstreak, *Ziegleria guzanta* (formerly
genus Kisutam.) The Mountain Groundstreak is normally found at higher
elevations in Mexico such as Chipinque Park in Monterrey, N.L. My
encounter with this species was on January 27th near my home in Mission.
Many thanks to Andy Warren for handling the voucher specimen and making
the determination. More details of the discovery and determination will
be provided to "The News of the Lepidopterists Society" and "American
Butterflies."
Mountain Groundstreak is a new species for the U.S.
Happy Butterflying,
Dave Hanson
