Black Witch in Vermont - July 21, 2004

Just got photos of a fairly fresh female Black Witch moth (Ascalapha
odorata) seen last night in Vermont.

This is only the fourth 2004 record for the species I've received from east
of the Mississippi River. (The other eastern records were from near Chicago
and southern Ontario.)

By contrast, I've received hundreds of 2004 BWM reports west of the
Mississippi River from the following states: Calif., Oregon, Montana,
Wyoming, Colorado, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma,
Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, and Minnesota!
