has anyone tried those little spiral backlights?

Hey all,

I'm headed out on vacation in a couple of weeks - and thought that I'd do a
little balcony collecting from hotel rooms.

Has anyone tried those little self-ballasted spiral black-light florescent
bulbs and if so, is it worth dragging one along on a family trip?
