Sulphur ovipositing in butterfly pea bud

Please visit this page.  I caught this yesterday, but have never 
observed it before.

I also need to have you all explain something to me.  There was a white 
bird dropping splash on a Bidens alba leaf in the yard the other day.  I 
was out w/the dogs.  Had been photographing a swallowtail in astilbe.
I noticed a Long tailed blue dipping the tip of its abdomen in the 
center of this dry dropping, very slowly and deliberately.

It stayed there several minutes, not doing anything but that, and then 
it flew off.  I looked for eggs (they're laying them underneath cowpea 
leaves), but didn't see any.

Any thoughts on this?
